Gabon Names Uncapped Brothers For Qualifier
|
Uncapped brothers Willy and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have both been included in Gabon’s squad for their World Cup qualifier in Morocco on Saturday.
The pair follow in the footsteps of elder brother Catilina and father Pierre, who have both played for the central African country.
Pierre Aubame captained Gabon’s national team in the 80s and Catilina also played for the country after having won caps for France at Under-19 level.
But the two younger brothers, both born in France and loaned out by AC Milan this season to gain experience, have turned down previous call-ups.
Pierre-Emerick, 19, played last month for France’s Under-21 side in a friendly against Tunisia but the unofficial status of the match does not prevent him from debuting for Gabon on Saturday.
Their inclusion was confirmed by the Gabon Football Federation on Tuesday ahead of the African zone Group A qualifier in Casablanca on Saturday.
