Tunisia remain top of the Group B standings after a goalless draw with Nigeria on Saturday but the result comes as a shock to their World Cup hopes.

Nigeria are just two points behind and have an easier run in the second half of the preliminary programme, including a return home match against the north Africans in Abuja.

Nigeria weathered a first half storm from their hosts in Tunis but might have snuck an away win if Michael Eneramo had taken up a late chance, set up by Peter Odemwingie.

Vincent Enyeama made a fine save early on, but the Tunisians struggled to break down the composed Nigerian defence, reinforced by the return from injury of Joseph Yobo.

Ironically though the Everton centre back almost game away a gaol after being caught in possession, and needed to be rescued by his young partner Dele Adeleye.

Later, Yobo returned the favour when Adeleye’s back pass was snapped up by the hosts and Yobo had to come up with the face-saving tackle.
