Utaka And Nwaneri Added To Nigerian Squad

Portsmouth forward John Utaka and Sion defender Obinna Nwaneri have been added to the Nigeria squad for the crucial 2010 World Cup/Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tunisia in Abuja on September 6.
The pair were initially left out of coach Shaibu Amodu’s squad announced on Friday, but were brought in to add additional strength to the group.
The squad will begin their camp for the match on Monday, August 31.
Nigeria currently trail group leaders Tunisia by two points and can move into pole position with a win, leaving them facing an away trip to Kenya and a home match with Mozambique in their final qualifiers.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian FA have refused a request from their Tunisian counterparts to move the kick-off time of the game from 17h00 to 20h00 local time.
The north Africans are concerned that many of their players are observing the Ramadan fast and playing the match in daylight hours will put them at a disadvantage.
