Morocco Announce Preliminary Squad For Qualifier
|
Morocco coach Hassan Moumen has drawn up a preliminary squad of 38 players for next month’s crucial 2010 World Cup/Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Gabon.
The Atlas Lions need to win to keep their slim hopes of reaching the World Cup in South Africa alive, but at the very minimum need to secure third place in the group to book their ticket to the Nations Cup in Angola in January.
They are currently in last place, four points behind pool leaders Cameroon with two games remaining. Moumen has called-up four new faces, including Portsmouth defender Younes Kaboul, who is a former junior international with France.
Also making their first appearance are Mimoun Azaouagh (Bochum, Germany), Chakib Benzoukane (Levski Sofia, Bulgaria) and Nordin Amrabat (PSV Eindhoven).
