Filling the boots of one Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha is an almost impossible task, but Marseille’s Wilson Oruma did it with aplomb on Monday as Nigeria edged out Ghana in a Group D MTN Africa Cup of Nations clash. Oruma, in the side instead of an injured Okocha, drove forward incessantly from midfield, showing boundless energy, an impressive array of passing and a fierce shot that more than once threatened the Ghana goal. The only question for Nigerian coach Augustine Eguavoen in Nigeria’s next match is how he is going to keep Oruma in the side when Okocha is fit, for there is surely no dropping him now. |
